TORONTO, Ontario, September 30th, 2021

AECO Innovation Lab is pleased to welcome the Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario (“CDCO”) as a supporter of the One Ontario initiative.

CDCO believes that data standardization will result in a more efficient development approval process which will have corollary benefits of harmonizing and streamlining all facets of the process.

CDCO represents over 30,000 women and men working in a wide range of skilled trades including carpentry, drywall, resilient flooring, concrete formwork, underwater construction welding, scaffolding, and a long list of other construction-related work. CDCO also represents many industrial workers across Ontario and thousands more in the Long Term Care Sector.

CDCO believes that data standardization will result in a more efficient development approval process which will have corollary benefits of harmonizing and streamlining all facets of the process. During the pandemic it has been proven that addressing permitting challenges with innovative approaches can be done but with persistent housing challenges, it is paramount that provincial support be a top priority for One Ontario.

One Ontario’s goal of streamlining planning and development approval processes will improve construction timelines and align with Ontario’s commitment to modernize and build a more transparent, fair, efficient system. It will also help to ensure that CDCO members are able to afford housing wherever they choose to work.

About Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario

The Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario (CDCO) is composed of 16 affiliated Local Unions of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners across the province. Representing over 30,000 members, the CDC conducts centralized collective bargaining in the construction sector on behalf of our affiliated Locals. The resultant provincial collective agreements are the foundation of one of the world’s most productive and efficient labour-management systems. In return for demonstrably fair wages, benefits, pensions and safe working conditions, our members provide their employers with their skills and commitment to mutual success – qualities that are needed to complete projects on time and on budget.
